Product Overview
The Dometic / Atwood 36160 Sail Switch (Low Air Flow Switch) is a genuine OEM airflow safety device designed for select Atwood AF and DF series furnaces.
The sail switch verifies adequate blower airflow before allowing the burner to ignite. If airflow is insufficient due to blocked ducting, debris, weak blower motor, or restricted vents, the switch prevents ignition to protect the furnace from unsafe combustion conditions.
If your furnace blower runs but the burner does not ignite, or ignition is intermittent, a faulty sail switch is one of the most common causes. Replacing it with OEM Part 36160 restores proper ignition sequencing and safe furnace operation.
Manufactured to original equipment specifications, this switch ensures correct calibration and dependable fitment.

Important: Furnaces manufactured before Serial Number 72498929 use a different sail switch design and are not compatible with Part 36160.
When Should You Replace the Sail Switch?
You may need to replace the sail switch if:
- The blower runs but the burner will not ignite
- Furnace attempts ignition but shuts down
- Heating is intermittent
- Airflow fault condition is indicated
- The switch paddle is stuck, bent, or contaminated
Sail switches are one of the most common failure points in Dometic/Atwood furnaces.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: What does a sail switch do?
A: It confirms sufficient airflow from the blower before allowing the burner to ignite.
Q: Why does my furnace blower run but not ignite?
A: A failed sail switch is a very common cause of ignition failure when blower operation is normal.
Q: Why does the serial number matter?
A: Units built before Serial Number 72498929 use a different switch design and require a different part number.
Q: Is this an OEM part?
A: Yes. 36160 is a genuine Dometic / Atwood replacement component.
