Product Overview
The Dometic / Atwood 38603 Furnace Valve Coil is a replacement electrical coil designed for use with Atwood 8900 III and 8900III LD Series RV furnaces. This 24-volt AC valve coil activates the gas valve when the furnace calls for heat, allowing propane to flow to the burner assembly for ignition.
If your furnace blower runs but no gas is reaching the burner, a failed valve coil may be preventing the gas valve from opening. Replacing the coil with the Atwood 38603 can restore proper furnace ignition and heating performance.
This replacement coil is designed for side outlet gas valve configurations used on select Atwood Hydro Flame furnace models.

FAQ
What does a furnace valve coil do?
The valve coil electromagnetically opens the gas valve when the furnace control board calls for heat. This allows propane to flow to the burner where it is ignited.
What happens if the valve coil fails?
If the coil fails, the gas valve will not open, meaning the furnace blower may run but the burner will never ignite.
Is this the entire gas valve?
No. Part 38603 is only the electrical valve coil, not the complete gas valve assembly.
What furnaces use this coil?
It is used on Atwood 8900 III and 8900III LD series furnaces with side outlet gas valves.
